Too many firms quote one price and bill another, hand your return off to someone you’ll never meet, and disappear until next April. I don’t work that way.
I know this industry from the inside, from the front counter of a national tax chain to running my own practice. I’ve seen how the business works behind the scenes, and a lot of it isn’t built with you in mind.
One example: many firms quietly send client files to offshore processing centers to cut costs. That means your Social Security number, income, and bank details can end up overseas, handled by people you’ll never meet. Federal rules require your written consent first, but that consent is easy to sign without noticing.
